Comments: Just found this site, have been looking for some old buddies. I served on the CAG 2 from 1967 to 1969 as a GMG3. Would like to hear from anyone, especially those gunner mates that served with me, like Bob Turek and Jack Kemmer. I was wounded on board in '68, would like to hear from others that were injured in that explosion. Thanks for a Great web site.

Comments: Served on the Canberra from Dec. 1965 until Aug. 1969 in the OR/CR Division. Came aboard out of basic and made RM2 in 67. I am surprised that there is not anyone from the OR/CR Division from the time period I was aboard. Enjoyed my tour aboard the "KanDo" and remember many fun filled nights in Subic. Well at least I think I remember. Have been looking for years with no success for Bob James. He was thrown off a roof top while we were in Hong Kong. My last visit with him was in the hospital in Hong Kong just before we sailed out. Anyone knowing how to contact him, I would appreciate hearing from you. And if anyone ever signs this guest book from OR/CR Division would like to hear from you. Great site you have here and hope you all enjoy the 2004 Reunion in Louisville. I grew up in that town when it was a lot smaller and real close to where the reunion is being held. ENJOY!

Comments: Good to see that someone has put together some kind of web site regarding the ship and a place to sign onto. I have recognized a few names already just browsing through here. I was on board 64-68 in M-Division after engine room. Left in March of 68. Now retired after 35 years in law enforcement.

Comments: It is so nice to visit this web site. It brings back so many memories of my father who served on the proud USS Canberra. I pass the World War II Memorial everyday going into work, it is beautiful. Their web site is worldwarii.org. to place a name on their memorial site. Keep up the proud Navy traditions. Go Navy!

Comments: My father, Charlie Dunham, served on the USS Canberra CA 70 during WWII and was on board when it was struck on Oct 13, 1944. My father has been gone a long time - he died from unfiltered Camels at the age of 44 back in 1968. If anyone remembers serving with him, I would love to hear from you. I never had the opportunity to ask him about his time in the Navy. All I remember was that he was very superstitious about Friday the 13th. God Bless! p.s. we are from Keyport, NJ

Comments: I found your site while searching for genealogy pertaining to my father. I believe he served on the Canberra but do not have his records close by. He passed away a few years ago so I am unable to hear his Navy stories. I was curious to know if anyone remembered serving with him. His name was Wayne Nichols. I do remember either hearing him say he was present when Eisenhower was on the ship or reading it somewhere in his records. If anyone does have any information I would appreciate it. Thank you.
