Comments: I was on 3rd and 4th WestPac cruises in 66 through 68.
I was in X division. I was a journalist and a part-time disc jockey for KANG radio. I hosted the "jazz-time" radio show from 8:00 - 9:30 pm.
I have 8x10's of the ship after it was hit by shrapnel.
The Canberra was a beautiful ship. The visit to Melbourne Australia stands out as a highlight.

    Location: Seattle, Washington

Comments: Served aboard the Canberra and went on the world cruise. Want to know the date we crossed the dateline at the equator. Plus other dates. I remember the cities and areas that we visited, but not the dates.
My station was the aft port Mark 56 Gun Fire Control System. My system and gun crew won the "E" for 5 inch guns, three years in a row in Gitmo.
My time aboard the Canberra was one of the best time of my young life. Great ship and my home for four years. And a great bunch of guys.
If anyone remembers the cruise, help me with the dates.

I would love to share all the photos my father was given by the Navy which show the path of the shell pieces. I have his cruise book which has a hole through it from this. Also if there is a memorial section to this page, I would love to have my father placed on it. Thank You.
