Navy Accepts Delivery of Future USS Canberra (LCS 30)
By PEO Unmanned and Small Combatants (PEO USC) Public Affairs
MOBILE, Ala. – The Navy accepted delivery of the future USS Canberra (LCS 30) Dec. 21 at Austal USA in Mobile.
Canberra is the second ship to honor the loss of the Australian cruiser HMAS Canberra during the Battle of Savo Island in World War II, and is the 15th Independence-variant LCS and the 26th LCS to join the Fleet. Canberra completed Acceptance Trials with the Board of Inspection and Survey in November, the final milestone prior to her official transfer from the shipbuilder, Austal USA, to the Navy. Commissioning, which is the act of placing a warship into active Navy service, is planned for summer 2022.
Commissioning is projected to take place in the summer of 2022.

The Reunion is a go.
We've had to cancel the Friday and Saturday tours, but one of our Shipmates from there is looking into activities that we can take part in on those days.
See you there!

They’re currently tracking for LCS-30 to “Sail Away” from Austal USA on April 7, 2022 (date subject to change). The Commissioning typically happens 1-3 months after “Sail Away”, probably in the “Summer of 2022”.

Comments:
The Christening Ceremony for the future USS Canberra LCS-30 has been moved back to later in March. The dates they are now looking at are March 20th and 27th. The final date depends on the availability of the ship's sponsor who, of course, is Australian.
It is still unknown if guests will be allowed. This all depends on the Virus status at that time.
If you are interested in attending the Ceremony in Mobile, AL, contact Ken and let him know.
Invitations are usually done by email.
