My Grandfather David Charubini served in WWII on the Canberra. I believe he was a pipe fitter, I am still trying to find out more. I have several pictures that I am going to have made digital to share with everyone. A few are pictures of the guns firing. I would like to get in touch with any other veterans of WWII.
Any help is appreciated Semper Fi.

Thank you in advance!

My Grandfather John D James served on the Canberra during WWII and I was trying to see if anyone could tell me more about his time aboard. I know he received a presidential citation and served as a signalman on the bridge. He never spoke a very much about his time in the war but I would like to know a little more so that I may be able to let my children know about the sacrifices he made for their freedom.
Thank you,
Jonathan James

I just wanted to take a moment of your time and let you know of the passing of a former shipmate. My father-in-law Herman Brammer passed away July 14, 2017 in his home. Attached is a link to his obituary.
http://www.boydbornfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Herman-Brammer/#!/Obituary
Herman served on the Canberra in the south Pacific and was on-board when she was torpedoed. He always said the Friday the 13th was his lucky day......Herman spoke often of his service on the Canberra and the grandsons and family enjoyed hearing the stories of his service in the Navy. Herman was a proud veteran and was buried with military honors performed by the local post. He will be missed by friends and family.
Thank you all for your Service!

My father-in-law, Robert E. Scholari served on the USS Canberra. I don't know what years he served, but he loved having served in the Navy and attending the annual ship reunions until he became too ill to travel. He built a model of the USS Canberra and it sits in his home. Sadly, Bob passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, July 1, 2017. He will be missed.

Just a shout out to let you all know that my dad, John Seitz (who is still living at age 92 )was on board the CA-70 USS Canberra as a Marine from August of 1943 to after January of 1945. There is a book telling of it's exploits from WWll to Past Vietnam. "The Battered Remnants of the Blue Fleet" by Walter J. Raczynski. I was thinking if you could somehow get in touch with this author or his family he might be able to answer some of your questions.
