My father, was on the Canberra as a 17 YO Marine, right before she was sent to Bremerton, WA to join the mothball fleet. She was the first ship he was assigned to and he remembers it as great duty that he was sorry to have come to an end so soon!

My father, Richard Sweet, was a Marine on this ship during Vietnam. 1965 to 1967 time frame, generally. My son (who is a Marine) figured that out for me from the DD214. I have a picture of him playing guitar with three other men, it looks like it was taken on the ship. I have no clue who the men are. If anyone recognizes my dad's name you might be able to figure out who the men with him were if I email the picture to you.
