Comments: Great Site. I know of two guys who served about this great ship but at different times. One during WW2. His name is Eldon Adams, and the other is James Kelly from Warren, OH. He was on in the late 50's I think. Wes

Comments: I remembered one more person from the last message I posted and that's Unser (MARDIV) FROM CAL. I know you are out there buddy. Drop me a line. For the rest of the crew, I managed to find some info. on obtaining motion picture images of the U.S.S. Canberra and very few of the same images of the old CA 70. Will keep you advised of any progress in my quest for obtaining motion videos of our beloved cruisers....until then.....shipmate Vic

Comments: Hello there all! I just wanted to supply all of you with an update on my father. He went to hell and back again. He has made a very nice recovery and all of you, his former shipmates helped to make it possible. He was overwhelmed with all of the responses that he received from all of you and all of the kind things that you said and did for him. It really boosted his recovery .I thought that he might not make it, but he has done very well. He is driving again and is about ready to try to golf again. He's going to get his permanent lower right leg (prosthetic) next week sometime. He's a fighter and all of his doctors told me "That if it were any other man, he probably wouldn't of made it". I told the Doc that they don't make men like my dad too much anymore and that goes for all of his shipmates too. You guys are real heroes! If we only had more like you the world would be better off. Thanks again everyone, your #1! Dad says that he's going to start contacting you guys to personally say thanks. Take care all, I'll be back occasionally to see what's up. Thanks again, Rick Perry Salem, Oregon

Comments: Hi to all crewmembers of such a fine and wonderful lady. Served aboard her in 1961 (H-DIV) The best time of my hitch was being aboard. Have a beautiful picture 20x24 of her underway. Miss all my friends in sickbay...hey Hamilton, Zinna, Skvarla, Duncan, Smitty, drop me a line sometime. Same goes for Wells, Acord in MARDIV. I know that I am forgetting someone but if I remember I'll let you know. The U.S.S. Canberra will always bring those fond memories back. It has been a great pleasure and an extreme honor to be mentioned among all those outstanding sailors and marines as members of the crew. The broken heart because of her demise will always be with us and the pain hopefully will go away one of these days, but the memories are ours forever and those nobody can take away. Thanks a million Mr. McManuels for allowing all her shipmates to bask in the limelight of such a fabulous fighting lady. So shipmates...take care....and to our ship....GODSPEED..

Comments: I was a Naval Surgeon stationed at base Hospital 15, Navy 3205 at Manus, in the Admiralty Islands, when you all came limping in for repairs. I remember that you were unable to get your dead out of the compartments in the hull, and I helped with that task. Several other ships came in from the same battle at about the same time, and we were busier than usual for a while.

Comments: Served 1959-62 OE Div. and look back fondly. Looking forward to the Wash. DC reunion. I have about 300 35mm slides and ships tour books from two Med cruises. It is my plan to make the slides into a video (showing at-sea and at-play) and bring it to the reunion along with the tour books.
