1966 and 67 Canberra has been added to the list of ships that may have been exposed to Agent Orange. But we had Asbestos Exposure everywhere on the ship. Some thing
you may want to look into.
Asbestos= Mesothelioma

I served as a radioman on the Canberra from 1967 through the decommissioning.
Between Captains Rosenberg (Rosie's Raiders) and Captain Compton, the two would run us so close to shore firing that when we came about we were churning up mud. I know we were all exposed numbers of times. The VA however is NOT your friend and unless you can prove otherwise or show where your boots came ashore they fight.
I am looking for anyone who served during that time who may have information.
Thanks.....still fighting cancer.

My Dad, Thomas M. Tumlin, served on the U.S.S. Canberra during the Cuban Missile Crisis in '62. He passed away this year on 4/16/2010. I believe he was a second class petty officer in electronic countermeasures. I'd sincerely appreciate it if anyone who knew my dad & has a good story about him could contact me at jefftumlin@att.net.

I have just learned, after a couple years of loosing track of him, that my long time friend and shipmate Phillip S. Brance passed away on 10/15/2007. Phil served in the OI division and joined the ship sometime in 1964 making the ships first WestPac deployment; he was discharged as an RD3 in July 1966 after the ship returned from the second WestPac deployment.
