I was told that were two types of Sailors in Vietnam, blue water & brown water. It appears that is determined on a case by case basis.

I am in need of documentation of the 1965 cruse to WestPac that resulted in so much time spent off the coast of Vietnam. Anyone who knows the dates that we were in Vietnam waters and how close we may have been to land would possibly be beneficial to me. My e-mail address is here if you want to respond. Thanks in advance.

Canberra Uniform

My Dad, Daniel Bernero, who died just after my birth in 1962, served in the Navy in WWII.
My Step-Dad, Edward J. Doyle, also served in the Navy in WWII.
Both were born and raised in Chicago.
I have the top half of a Navy uniform with the "USS Canberra" patch on the right shoulder. I don't know which Dad it belonged to but, I suspect it belonged to my birth father, Dan Bernero.
The inside tag reads "The Big "O" Naval and Civilian Wear, Norfolk Virginia"
Can you guys tell me which Dad wore this uniform?
Finally, if you would like to have this uniform, I would be thrilled to donate it and send it off to you for your collection. Just provide me with the proper mailing information.
Thanks,
Ray Bernero

I was on the Canberra for 2 Westpac tours. June67 out Feb 1969. Was in OL Division first cruise and S-1 division on second cruise. Had a great time. Like to hear from anyone with health issues on these 2 cruises with any Agent Orange issues.

There are about 15 diseases recognized by VA that were caused by Agent orange. Canberra sailors who served on cruises in Vietnam Nam waters are qualified for VA benefits. I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer about 5 years ago. I was given a 40% disability. If I can help any Canberra sailors please feel free to contact me.

Back on October I posted here on the Canberra log book that the USS Canberra veterans had a face book page and offered to add anyone interested as members of the group so that it could be view at will by them. I probably didn't make it clear that you must first have a face book page yourself in order to be added to the group. If you are interested please send me a friend request to Kenny raye Vaden on face book or send me pertinent information so that I might locate you on face book. Bottom line is that in order to be a member and view the page you must have a face book account. Sorry if it wasn't clear. Thank you
